3 Generations of Joy
Frank Joy started poultry farming in August 1929. At the age of 21 he bought his first farm in Effingham. In 1948 he bought Openview Farm where the Joy family have been farming since. Franks vision was to produce great tasting food. He reared Turkeys, chickens and ducks supplying butchers, restaurants right through to selling direct to locals.
Derek Joy, Franks son, took over in the 1960’s, buying Bramble Farm, along with his other farming activities in the 1970's. As trends changed and Super markets took hold, Bramble Farm Turkeys grew to become a main Bronze free range turkey supplier in Smithfield market, including butchers in Holland Park, Kensington, Piccadilly in London and also further afield in the South East through Hampshire, Sussex and and of course Surrey.
Adrian Joy, Derek’s son, now runs the business, he checks the birds daily and still uses some of Frank Joy methods. Things have moved on in some ways though like with the introduction of a online shopping. We have customers who started coming to us for their Turkeys when Frank was around and now third generations come now to collect their Christmas turkey.
Our ethos is still the same Frank set out to do - to produce great tasting food.
The Joy family are proud to supply award winning, free range, slowly matured, flavoursome and succulent turkeys of the finest quality, mainly for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The great news is that you can buy them directly from the farm.
